
Keeping Your Outdoor Heaters from Dying Early
If you’re putting infrared heaters on a patio, you’ve got two main enemies: moisture and condensation. It’s a simple problem, but it kills standard heating elements fast. Water vapor settles on the quartz tube, or someone gets a bit too enthusiastic with the hose during cleaning, and suddenly your heater is toast. We figured out a better way to handle this by adding anti-fog and splash-proof barriers that actually work.
The problem with “cold spots”
Here is the thing about condensation: it creates these tiny cold spots on the heating element. When the heater kicks on, the glass gets hot fast, but those water droplets stay cold. That temperature gap creates a lot of stress on the glass. You get micro-cracks. Then, eventually, the whole tube just burns out. It’s frustrating and expensive. To stop this, we changed the housing shape and added a special coating. It keeps the moisture from ever touching the emitter. Because the tube stays dry, there’s no thermal shock. No cracking. Just steady, reliable heat every time you flip the switch.
Dealing with the rain (and the hose)
Most of these units fail because water leaks into the electrical terminals. We got tired of seeing open-air connections fail, so we ditched them. Our design seals up the wiring junctions and the reflector housing. Whether it’s a sideways rainstorm or a splash of cleaning spray, the live contacts stay dry. Now, let’s be clear: these aren’t submarines. Don’t throw them in your pool. But they can definitely take a beating from wind and humidity. Just make sure your circuit breakers are GFCI protected so everything stays safe.
