The “Gotchas”
Now, don’t think this is just a “plug and play” situation. You can’t just throw new tubes in and walk away. You have to get the wattage and voltage exactly right so you don’t fry your existing switchgear. And be careful—if you crank the heat density too high just to shave off a few seconds, you might end up scorching your plastic or warping the tunnel supports. Not a great look. Plus, we have to look at what you’re actually drying. If you’re running PET or HDPE, the wavelength has to match how that specific polymer absorbs heat. If it doesn’t, you’re basically just paying to heat the air in the room.
